I hadn't thought very much about eReaders until recently, despite my interest in reading. Someone who I speak to a lot recently decided to tell me a bit more about them and the eReaders that they own.
I decided to order a Kobo Clara HD last week after finding out a little more about it. It arrived yesterday. I want to ramble about how nice it is for a while. If I can encourage anyone reading this to think a little more about eReaders, then that would be nice, too.
I was surprised by the weight and size at first (it is very light and it has a 6" screen), but I wound up not finding either to be a hindrance at all - quite the opposite, actually. It is incredibly nice to hold, and so far the size has not been bothersome in the slightest, even whenever the font size has been decreased a lot.
In addition to this, the E-Ink and page refreshes have taken a bit of getting used to, but haven't bothered me much. It's only really been particularly noticeable whenever I've been reading manga due to how quickly I turn the pages, but I did get used to it.
I have tried reading both a novel and a manga on it, and both have been very nice to read. A slightly larger screen might be preferable for reading manga, but nonetheless, I think the experience of reading it on the Clara HD is still pleasant.
I've only been using it for a day, but I'm very happy with it (I've been sitting and reading on it as if it were a shiny new toy, but thankfully, I don't think that it's one I'll grow tired of). Something that I greatly appreciate about the Kobo Clara HD is the option to easily import EPUBs from my PC onto the device by simply using a USB lead. It is very nice.
Here are some of the other things that I like about it so far:
In summary, I like it a lot.
I'm very glad I found more out about eReaders and decided to get one. This is the first eReader I have ever had, so I cannot praise or criticise any others, but I definitely recommend this one.
With that, my ramble about my shiny new eReader is over.
